Cloe Wilder graced the stage at The Foundry in Philadelphia on Thursday, bringing a captivating mix of introspective lyrics, dreamy pop melodies, and a presence that exuded both vulnerability and confidence. For a venue known for its intimate vibe, Wilder delivered a performance that struck a perfect balance between raw emotion and polished artistry.
Wilder, known for her emotionally charged songs and ability to connect deeply with listeners, wasted no time engaging the Philly audience. Opening with " I Am a Heavyweight," which immediately drew the crowd in, her ethereal voice filling the room as she enchanted the crowd.
The production was minimal, letting the music speak for itself, and it worked beautifully. It’s rare to see an artist so young commanding the stage with such poise and authenticity. It was clear that she is much more than a performer, she’s a storyteller, and her ability to connect with her audience was one of the highlights of the evening. She even gave away a few of her tour t-shirts, throwing them into the crowd to everyone’s
One of the standout moments came when Wilder transitions to the piano to perform “Five Years.” The stripped-down arrangement was breathtaking, displaying her vocal range and emotional depth. The audience’s response was palpable, many visibly moved, but Wilder emotionally raised them back up as she transitioned her song seamlessly into an Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros cover of “Home” by the end the applause that followed was deafening.
By the time Wilder closed with "Cigarette," a song just released in January and co-written with Spencer Sutherl and Sam Nicolosi, it was clear that she had left a lasting impression on everyone. The Foundry felt like the perfect venue for this rising star to cement her place as one of the most promising artists in the indie-pop scene. She is a force, and if last night was any indication, the future is incredibly bright for this talented young artist.
