Donna Missal brought her soulful energy to the Foundry and graced the audience with a dynamic danceable, and at times emotional, journey. The New Jersey singer-songwriter performed songs from all three of her albums starting the night with How Does It Feel, Heaven Here, and Jupiter.
This tour is in support of her new album “Revel” which she released independently in the summer of 2023. Like its name’s sake, it is a celebration of her newfound power over her music, full of vibrant lyrical and melodic expression. The night’s performance made it clear that this new music is meant to be experienced live. She projects the musical and spiritual range of each song to another level in the presence of her fans.
Donna’s meaningful engagement with the crowd encouraged them to follow her along the passionate highs and lows of each song. They danced when she danced, and they slowed down to a graceful sway when the music was soft and subtle. Such was the case when she performed an acoustic version of Move Me, to the thrill of the crowd. She shared that it was reminiscent of her early days performing with just a guitar at small out of the way places.
Often during the show, she took the time to thank everyone for being there and sharing the experience. Donna is making an unprecedented return both with the new album and this new tour. Her die-hard fans represented in force and with some new fans they patiently waited after the show to spend just a few moments with the singer. Donna graciously obliged everyone, signing autographs, and talking with everyone well after the house lights came on. Although this leg of the tour is fast approaching its end with only a few more listed dates, we can speculate with high certainty that with her new success more tours and more music will follow.
